Extended Gulf red snapper season!
FWC reminds Floridians of extended Gulf red snapper season in November
Expanded fishing on Veteran’s Day and Thanksgiving weekend!
The recreational red snapper season in Gulf state waters will remain open for seven additional days this November, including Nov. 5 and 6; Nov. 11 and 12, which is Veteran’s Day holiday; and Nov. 25, 26 and 27, which is Thanksgiving weekend. The Nov. 26 date is also a saltwater license-free fishing day.
Gov. Rick Scott requested the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) expand red snapper season as a measure to offset the economic effects of Hurricane Hermine, which hit the Gulf Coast of Florida in early September. Recreational fishing in Gulf waters adds $7.6 billion annually to Florida’s economy.
