FWC allows temporary access to secure camps in Everglades WMA

With continued high water levels in the Everglades and Francis S. Taylor Wildlife Management Area (WMA), the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) will provide an opportunity for people to access area camps. On Saturday, Oct. 6, camp lease holders can access their camps to secure them for the duration of this high-water event.
To reduce the amount of exposure to wildlife using the area’s tree islands and surrounding levees for refuge, access to the camps will be restricted to one day only. If you need to access your camp on this day to secure it for the duration of this high-water event, you can request a special use permit at MyFWC.com/License; click on “Public Land Use.” This special use permit will only allow for lease holders to travel to and from their camp on Oct. 6.
The executive order issued on Sept. 10, which temporarily restricts public access to Everglades and Francis S. Taylor WMA, will remain in effect until rescinded by a subsequent executive order.
